Best of luck, Bulldogs!

After a hard-fought season, Victoria University’s AFL partner the Western Bulldogs are preparing to embark on their second finals campaign in a row.

The Bulldogs will start their finals campaign in Perth on Thursday night with an elimination final against the West Coast Eagles.

As a proud partner of the Western Bulldogs, VU wishes them the best of luck for the finals.

Sadly, the Bulldogs will be missing the services of VU student Mitch Wallis, who suffered a season-ending broken leg in Round 18. Fellow VU student and acting captain Easton Wood is still an uncertain starter. But the Bulldogs have overcome injuries to their stars throughout the year to enjoy a successful season so far.

VU VFL partners the Footscray Bulldogs will take on Essendon on Saturday at North Port Oval, Port Melbourne, for a spot in the VFL Preliminary Final.

VU’s partnership with the Bulldogs

VU’s internationally renowned sport scientists work side by side with the Bulldogs' coaching, medical and performance teams to develop players’ skills and fitness in a structured research program.

Our partnership also gives the Bulldogs a unique opportunity to tap into world class sports science and elite sport best practice at home in the west to give them a winning edge. This includes their use of our cutting-edge sports science, training, research and world-class facilities.

VU students have the opportunity to take up placements with the Bulldogs in areas including biomechanics, exercise physiology, remedial massage and exercise rehabilitation, making VU sport graduates among the most in demand across the industry.

The Bulldogs also work with VU on a number of community and leadership programs, as well as donating $1 from every club membership to VU’s Achievement Scholarships.

VU and the Bulldogs celebrated our centenary year in two sponsored matches this season, with VU featuring on the team banner and AFL Record cover.
