Victoria University is an Australian government registered provider of tertiary education.

Victoria University operates under the . This Act replaced the Victoria University Act of Technology Act 1990 which created the University. The Acts sets out the objects, powers and functions of the University.

Following the University's application for renewal of registration in March 2020, TEQSA has determined, under Section 36(1) of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (Cth), that registration of Victoria University as a higher education provider be renewed for a period of seven years, until 14 October 2027 in the provider category of 'Australian University.'
