Graduate research scholarships

Victoria University's world-leading researchers are available to supervise successful graduate research scholarship applicants. We will help you become a research-qualified professional.

Scholarships are awarded competitively and selection is based on academic merit and research potential, with preference given to students undertaking projects in:

  • one of our areas of research priority
  • areas relevant to the research being undertaken in our research institutes and centres
  • projects supported by industry partners or part of externally funded research programs
  • Moondani Balluk research scholarships, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander

How to apply for a scholarship

Applications for Research Period 1 2027 are now open.

  1. Select your research-focus outline (RFO).
  2. Contact the principal supervisor to discuss your interest in and suitability for the research topic.
  3. Read our application guide for graduate research stipend scholarships.
  4. Apply for a graduate research degree.

All scholarship applicants must meet our academic entry requirements for graduate research, in addition to any eligibility requirements for a specific scholarship.
