Overview

Develop your spoken and written English to find work or continue into higher study, with a Certificate IV in EAL (Access) 22641VIC from Victoria University.

This course is designed for people learning English as an additional language.

It will improve your English-language speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills to help you understand sophisticated conversations and complex text. You will finish the course ready for higher English-language education, practical or academic courses, or to apply for work.

In this English course, you will develop skills to:

  • participate in complex conversations
  • understand and give a wide range of spoken presentations and instructions
  • read and write complex information, instructions and stories
  • find information about the Australian government
  • research current issues and significant events in Australian history.

Course structure

To be awarded the 22641VIC Certificate IV in EAL (Access), 8 units must be completed consisting of:

  • 1 Core unit
  • 1 Speaking and Listening Elective unit<
  • 1 Reading and Writing Elective unit
  • 2 Language Skills Elective units that have not been previously completed from:

  • this qualification
  • Certificate III and/or IV qualifications in this EAL Framework

  • 3 General Electives which have been selected from:

  • General Electives listed in this qualification
  • General Electives listed in the Certificate III and/or IV qualifications in this EAL Framework
  • units that are first packaged in AQF level 3, 4 or 5 qualifications in other accredited courses and/or endorsed training packages
