Landing on her feet in the business world

Doing one block at a time gives you more time to study and focus on life outside of uni as well.

Bachelor of Business (Hospitality, Tourism and Events Management)

Naomi Mason started at VU on a sports education pathway, but a knee injury meant her journey landed on another – events and hospitality. She shares what the switch has meant for her study experience.

“I graduated high school in 2015 and started doing a Bachelor of Sports Coaching and Physical Education at VU, but I ended up dropping out of that because I injured my knee.

“So, I slowly moved into a Bachelor of Business to change pathways.”

Interactions with others that create joy

“I really like interacting with different people, just trying to make their experience special in some kind of way. Just seeing them joyful makes me joyful.

“You get to meet lots of people – each day is different.”

New heights in the VU City Tower

“I love studying in the City Tower. It’s really pretty, very modern. All the technology is really advanced.

“It's really nice to study in and it helps you study: the building just makes you more motivated, because it's such a pretty campus to work in.”

A Block Model that creates possibility

“I like that it's very interactive. I like that the lectures and the practicals are all in one class rather than more classes throughout the week.

“You get to meet different people and do different units. Doing one block at a time gives you more time to study and focus on life outside of uni as well.”

Looking towards a future in events

“I hope to work in the events industry somewhere. I'm not too sure if it's going to be events planning, or the operational side of events – still trying to figure that out!”
