MyTimetable is an online class allocation system accessed through MyVU.

In MyTimetable you can:

  • browse available times for the units you're enrolled in

  • specify your time preferences when you'd like to attend

  • change your allocated times after preferences have been sorted (subject to availability).

Please note that it's your responsibility to confirm the location of your lectures and tutorials.

Explanation of Higher Education timetables

We have two types of timetables for our bachelor degrees taught in Melbourne:

  • Block model timetable: for students who are studying in four-week 'blocks,' where units are taught one after the other.
  • Standard Higher Education timetable: for students studying multiple units at the same time over a semester.

Our trimester timetables apply to the following:

  • VU College courses, which are taught in trimesters in Sydney.
  • Melbourne Trimesters, which are offered to postgraduate students from the VU Business School.

We may be able to grant you consideration for medical reasons that affect your ability to attend particular class times. To be considered you need to register with Disability & accessibility services and have submitted your preferences using MyTimetable.

See our academic calendars for semester, trimester and study-break dates.

MyTimetable modes

Throughout the year, VU's MyTimetable will open in various modes that let you enter preferences, view your timetable or change allocations.

Here is an explanation of each mode:

  • Preference entry mode: MyTimetable is open for you to enter your preferences. Your preferences are not handled in the order they are received, so you have plenty of time to review your options and build a timetable that works well.
  • Preference sort (closed): MyTimetable is closed as we sort your preferences and allocate you into classes.
  • Allocation open: MyTimetable is open for you to view your personal timetable and change your allocations.
  • Read-only mode: MyTimetable is open for you to view your timetable, but you can't change allocations.
  • Closed for semester/block: MyTimetable is closed, and you can no longer view your personal timetable.

The dates for each mode of the timetable are listed under headings below.

Please note that all system changes on MyTimetable take place at 4pm (AEST/AEDST), unless otherwise stated.
