You may be eligible for an additional fee extension if you meet the criteria defined as 'exceptional circumstances'.

If you are unable to pay your fees by the due date or extended due date as a result of an unexpected event, please follow the process outlined here.

Exceptional circumstances

Exceptional circumstances may include: 

  • financial hardship (domestic students)
  • banking/postal delay
  • currency issues
  • sponsor problems
  • University administrative errors
  • natural/political/economic disaster.

Students eligible for exceptional circumstances fee extension

  • international students
  • domestic VET Certificate 1-4
  • domestic Higher Education Postgraduate Masters students.

If you believe you meet the criteria, you'll need to attend an interview with a Senior Adviser to apply.

Preparing for the interview

Before attending the interview:

  • complete the fee extension application form including the expenditure sheet on the second page
  • prepare any additional evidence/supporting documentation.

Evidence

You must also bring evidence to the interview to support your case, such as:

  • the completed fee extension application form
  • Statement of Account (invoice)
  • proof of income (payslips or statement of payment from Centrelink)
  • receipts for all payments
  • supporting documentation outlining your exceptional circumstances.
