Welcome to Victoria University and Victoria University Polytechnic! We hope that studying with us is one of the most memorable times of your life.

Orientations are a great way to start university or TAFE.  You'll get important course information and make friends at fun social events.

On-campus orientations are held twice a year. In February/March (Semester 1) we call our orientation 'Summer O-Fest', and in July (Semester 2) we call it 'Winter O-Fest'.

International student orientation

As a new international student you must attend a compulsory orientation session before your course start date.

Your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) shows your proposed course start date. You need to attend one international orientation before this date.

If you are in Australia, we suggest that you attend the first available international orientation.

If you're coming from overseas it’s a good idea to arrive at least a week before your international orientation. You'll then have time to explore Melbourne.

International orientation provides important information from VU staff, students, government and community organisations about living in Melbourne and getting a great start at VU, including:

  • support services for international students
  • overseas student health cover (OSHC)
  • safety
  • your student visa rights and responsibilities
  • facilities and services on campus.

The 2020 international orientation days are all at Footscray Park Campus and City Flinders Campus, even if you are going to study at a different campus. Dates and locations for orientation are:

  • Thursday 30 January at Footscray Park Campus
  • Wednesday 12 February at City Flinders Campus
  • Tuesday 18 February at Footscray Park Campus
  • Wednesday 4 March at City Flinders Campus.

Register online for your preferred international orientation session.
