Enhance your students' learning with our Big Day Out laboratory activities designed to complement the VCE curriculum.
We offer three activities which can be run separately or as a series.
The sessions are for Years 11 & 12, and run for 90 minutes each.
Physiology for Physical Education
This session complements student learning outcomes relevant to Unit 3 Aos2.
Students discuss and report on laboratory exercises designed to explore the assessment of physiological functions. They have the opportunity to participate in typical physiological performance testing, including:
- VO2 max testing
- Wingate power testing.
Biomechanics for Physical Education
This session complements student learning outcomes relevant to Unit 1 Aos2.
Students discuss basic kinematics, looking at the difference between qualitative and quantitative measurement techniques using state-of-the-art equipment.
The program uses the Biomechanics laboratory to perform technique analysis to understand the mechanical factors that affect human movement in sport.
Homeostasis for Biology
This session complements student learning outcomes relevant to Unit 2 AoS1.
Students investigate ‘homeostasis’, examining the human body’s adaptations to changes in temperature during exercise.
Using state-of-the-art equipment, students are able to produce their own test data for discussion. They test physiological variables (HR, Temp and O2%) at rest and then after exercise.
There will be a participation fee for this program. Please contact us to discuss your program and we will be able to tailor a proposal to need your requirements.
