WYNnovation 2022
VU Polytechnic was once again the proud sponsor of the WYNnovation Festival, hosted by Wyndham City Council.
Now in its fifth year, the festival featured events throughout February, including including a Summit, Masterclass, Pitch Competition and Community Classroom. WYNnovation has been supported by VU since 2018 and the one day Summit is part of the overarching Wyndham City run program.
The WYNnovation Summit was held on 4 February and participants had the opportunity to hear from keynote speakers, and network with businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs in Wyndham.
Held at the Encore Events Centre, guest keynote speakers at the WYNnovation Summit included Dr Ray Owen, Chief Technology Officer at NBN Co; Naomi Simson, co-founder of Big Red Group (BRG) and the founder of RedBalloon – also known from Australian Shark Tank; Dr Jordan Nguyen, inventor, TV presenter and author of the book A Human’s Guide To The Future; and Dan Monheit, co-founder of Hardhat, Australia’s foremost agency built around behavioural science.
VU Polytechnic was represented by the Industry and Growth team with an information stand to engage with local businesses and four sessions delivered as part of the Community Classrooms on Return to Business after COVID, Digital Media, SEO Training and Web presence for sales.
Wyndham Tech School’s Operations Manager in STEM Education, Sam Nikolsky, featured as part of the industry panel discussion and shared insights on innovations, successes and challenges. Director of the Wyndham Tech School Gail Bray featured as a guest judge for the Pitch Competition.
The event explored the leap in technology in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19. Australia ranks 35 out of 38 countries in the adoption of robotics, and online shopping has forced retail businesses and logistics firms to rethink how they do business innovation and entrepreneurship space around Australia.
