Lunar New Year flash mob in Melbourne - join the fun

Join our flash mob to celebrate Lunar New Year. The video will broadcast worldwide.

To celebrate Lunar New Year 2018, Victoria Business Confucius Institute is organising a flash mob street performance.

We are now recruiting students and staff interested in having a bit of fun and participating in this exciting event.

Held in Melbourne’s iconic Queensbridge Square (South Bank), the event will be filmed on Sunday 28 January 2018. The flash mob will broadcast worldwide - via the American ICN station, and the most prestigious Chinese station - CCTV.

We'll also post the video to social media channels including YouTube, Facebook, AppleTV, Amazon Streaming, people.cn, ifeng, qq, QIY, weibo, Roku TV, YOUKU, GuiYang Newspaper, CAVoice, iTalkBB, WeChat.

Casting requirements

You need to be:

  • available for filming and rehearsals - Sunday 28 January 2018, 12pm-3pm
  • fun-loving
  • happy to appear on TV and social media worldwide.

Our partner started the Lunar New Year flash mob series in Los Angeles in early 2015. Chinese online media platforms posted the video which has received 30 million views. 

In September 2015, another flash mob was held in New York Times Square. Its video has attracted worldwide interest with 130 million views!

This year, the same team is organising a worldwide Lunar New Year flash mob across five continents.
