Overview

The Solar Grid Connect - Install short course is designed for electricians and electrical engineers who want to gain skills in installing grid-connected PV systems.

29–30 July 2019 8am–4.30pm two consecutive days
19–20 August 2019 8am–4.30pm two consecutive days
2–3 September 2019 8am–4.30pm two consecutive days
16–17 September 2019 8am–4.30pm two consecutive days
7–8 October 2019 8am–4.30pm two consecutive days
21–22 October 2019 8am–4.30pm two consecutive days
11–12 November 2019 8am–4.30pm two consecutive days
2–3 December 2019 8am–4.30pm two consecutive days

This course allows successful students to gain provisional accreditation with the Clean Energy Council, which may lead to full accreditation in Grid Connect Install.

You will develop technical skills and knowledge that will ensure you are ready for work, including:

  • preparing to work on photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
  • solving problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
  • completing work and documenting problem solving activities
  • preparing to install photovoltaic power systems
  • installing photovoltaic power systems
  • completing and reporting on installation activities.

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency(s) within TNABN Solar Grid Connect - Install, a student must successfully undertake the following unit(s):

CORE UNITS

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers

Previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course.

The Solar Grid Connect - Install course is designed for electricians and electrical engineers who want to gain skills in installing grid-connected PV systems. This course allows successful students to gain provisional accreditation with the Clean Energy Council, which may lead to full accreditation in Grid Connect Install.

You will develop technical skills and knowledge that will ensure you are ready for work, including:

  • preparing to work on photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems;
  • solving problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems;
  • completing work and documenting problem solving activities;
  • preparing to install photovoltaic power systems;
  • installing photovoltaic power systems, and;
  • completing and reporting on installation activities.

Admission requirements

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course.

Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Applicants must hold an Unrestricted Electrician's Licence or equivalent issued in an Australian State or Territory.

This admission requirement satisfies the unit pre-requisite requirements and the Clean Energy Council accreditation requirements.

The pre-requisite unit requirements are as follows:

UEENEEK125A Solve basic problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems

  • UEENEEE104A (pre-requisite of UEENEEE101A);
  • UEENEEE137A (pre-requisite of UEENEEE101A), and;
  • UEENEEE108A (pre-requisites of UEENEEE101A, UEENEEE102A, UEENEEE105A and UEENEEE107A), or;
  • UEENEEG106A (pre-requisites of UEENEEE101A, UEENEEE102A, UEENEEE105A, UEENEEE107A).

UEENEEK148A Install, configure and commission LV grid connected photovoltaic power systems

  • UEENEEK125A (pre-requisites as above), and;
  • UEENEEG103A (pre-requisites of UEENEEE101A, UEENEEE102A, UEENEEE104A, UEENEEE105A, UEENEEE107A, UEENEEE137A, UEENEEG006A, UEENEEG033A, UEENEEG063A, UEENEEG101A, UEENEEG102A, UEENEEG106A, UEENEEG107A, UEENEEG108A, UEENEEG109A).
