Overview

The Solar Grid Connect - Design short course is designed for electricians and electrical engineers who want to gain skills in designing grid-connected PV systems. 

Short course dates and times: 
9–11 October 2019 8am–4.30pm Three consecutive days
4–6 December 2019 8am–4.30pm Three consecutive days

This course provides licensed electricians with the skills to understand design of grid connected photovoltaic power supply systems and their installation. It allows successful students to gain provisional accreditation with the Clean Energy Council, which may lead to full accreditation in Grid Connect Design.

You will develop technical skills and knowledge that will ensure you are ready for work, including:

  • preparing to work on photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
  • solving problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
  • completing work and documenting problem solving activities
  • preparing to design grid connected power supply systems
  • developing grid connected power supply systems design, and
  • obtaining approval for grid connected power supply systems design.

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency(s) within TNABM Solar Grid Connect - Design, a student must successfully undertake the following unit(s):

CORE UNITS

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers

Previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course.

Admission requirements

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course.

Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Applicants may hold an Unrestricted Electrician's Licence or equivalent issued in an Australian State or Territory or meet the pre-requisite unit requirements as indicated below.

This admission requirement satisfies the unit pre-requisite requirements and the Clean Energy Council accreditation requirements.

The pre-requisite unit requirements are as follows:

UEENEEK125A Solve basic problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems

  • UEENEEE104A (pre-requisite of UEENEEE101A);
  • UEENEEE137A (pre-requisite of UEENEEE101A), and;
  • UEENEEE108A (pre-requisites of UEENEEE101A, UEENEEE102A, UEENEEE105A and UEENEEE107A), or;
  • UEENEEG106A (pre-requisites of UEENEEE101A, UEENEEE102A, UEENEEE105A, UEENEEE107A).

  • UEENEEK125A (pre-requisites as above).
