Overview

The Solar Grid Connect - Design and Install short course is designed for electricians and electrical engineers who want to gain skills in the design and installation of grid-connected PV systems.

Short course dates and times: 
7–11 October 2019 8am–4.30pm Five consecutive days
2–6 December 2019 8am–4.30pm Five consecutive days

This course provides licensed electricians with the skills to understand energy audits, design, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain grid connected photovoltaic systems and the associated equipment. It allows successful students to gain provisional accreditation with the Clean Energy Council, which may lead to full accreditation in Grid Connect Design or Grid Connect Install.

You will develop technical skills and knowledge that will ensure you are ready for work, including:

  • preparing to work on photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
  • solving problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
  • completing work and documenting problem solving activities
  • preparing to design grid connected power supply systems
  • developing grid connected power supply systems design
  • obtaining approval for grid connected power supply systems design
  • preparing to install photovoltaic power systems
  • installing photovoltaic power systems, and
  • completing and reporting on installation activities.

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency(s) within TNABL Solar Grid Connect - Design and Install, a student must successfully undertake the following unit(s):

CORE UNITS

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers

Previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course.

Admission requirements

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course.

Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Applicants must hold an Unrestricted Electrician's Licence or equivalent issued in an Australian State or Territory.

This admission requirement satisfies the unit pre-requisite requirements and the Clean Energy Council accreditation requirements.

  • UEENEEE104A (pre-requisite of UEENEEE101A);
  • UEENEEE137A (pre-requisite of UEENEEE101A), and;
  • UEENEEE108A (pre-requisites of UEENEEE101A, UEENEEE102A, UEENEEE105A and UEENEEE107A), or;
  • UEENEEG106A (pre-requisites of UEENEEE101A, UEENEEE102A, UEENEEE105A, UEENEEE107A).

UEENEEK135A Design grid connected photovoltaic power supply systems

  • UEENEEK125A (pre-requisites as above).

UEENEEK148A Install, configure and commission LV grid connected photovoltaic power systems

  • UEENEEK125A (pre-requisites as above), and;
  • UEENEEG103A (pre-requisites of UEENEEE101A, UEENEEE102A, UEENEEE104A, UEENEEE105A, UEENEEE107A, UEENEEE137A, UEENEEG006A, UEENEEG033A, UEENEEG063A, UEENEEG101A, UEENEEG102A, UEENEEG106A, UEENEEG107A, UEENEEG108A, UEENEEG109A).
