Overview

Develop the technical, organisational and personal skills needed to manage complex projects, with a Diploma of Project Management BSB50820 at Victoria University.

Project management involves planning, organising and assessing jobs, as well as managing the people and risks involved, to achieve specific outcomes. You will gain a sound knowledge base and use a range of specialised, technical and managerial competencies to initiate, plan, execute and evaluate your own work and/or the work of others.

You will gain skills and knowledge in:

  • managing project scope, time, quality, cost, human resources, information and communication, risk and integration
  • facilitating continuous improvement
  • managing personal work priorities and professional development
  • leading and managing team effectiveness
  • leading and managing effective workplace relationships.

This course is designed for individuals from different industries who will be involved in project delivery. They may include team leaders, frontline managers and those aspiring to a career in project management.

Course Structure

The course structure has been chosen from the following core and elective units. These electives have been selected based on industry needs, graduate pathways and/or student and teacher feedback. To be awarded the BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management, a student must successfully complete a total of twelve (12) units of competency, comprising of: - Eight (8) core units, and; - Four (4) elective units, of which 2 elective units must be selected from the elective units listed in the qualification for the remaining 2 elective units:  - up to 2 units may be selected from the elective units listed in the qualification  - if not listed, up to 2 units may be selected from a Diploma or above, from this or any other currently endorsed Training Package qualification or accredited course. Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. Chosen elective units must not include BSBPMG430 Undertake project work.
