Placements that pay off

VU’s extensive practical placements and industry connections took Joshua Le from the classroom into his dream career as an educator.

During my senior years of high school, there were times when my friends needed help with maths and science. So I’d tutor, and discovered I had a knack for teaching.

I chose VU because I liked the idea of being placed at different schools to gain experience. The placements are where the real learning happens.

The P-12 qualification also gives me the advantage of teaching at both primary and secondary levels.

I remember in my final year how well supported we all were at VU. They ran extra classes preparing us for after graduation, like how to apply and look for work, and the options available to us as graduate teachers.

While studying at VU I was placed at Manor Lakes P-12 College. In my final year, I was expected to really take charge of what I wanted to accomplish during my preservice teaching. I was able to make connections with other staff members, and because of that, I’m now working at the college as a Year 9 maths and physics teacher.

I look forward to my teaching taking me overseas one day, so I can pursue my passion for educating people.”
