A head start in Human Resource Management
The University has continued to play a massive part in my success since graduation, by giving me the skills to succeed in securing a role in my chosen field.

A Work-integrated Learning placement enabled Business graduate Patrick D’Cruz to assist with the roll-out of VU’s new Human Capital Management system. Patrick shares how this hands-on experience led to a graduate role in his field.
“I chose Victoria University due to the recommendation of a high school teacher, and hearing about the benefits of the VU Block Model.
I found the Block Model was such an excellent way to study. It really allowed me to focus on details of a single subject at a time, as well as offering space to rest between units.
The University has continued to play a massive part in my success since graduation too, by giving me the skills to succeed in securing a role in my chosen field. During my studies I undertook a Work-integrated Learning placement as a Project Assistant in VU’s IT Services Project Management Office where I worked on the roll out of a new Human Capital Management (HCM) software system to the University.
I managed the transfer of Oracle Guided Learning guides, solved issues alongside the systems testing team, and even creating a standardised wording list for any terminology within the system. Each day was challenging and different but I was supported to learn new skills required by my colleagues in the project team.
This work placement assisted me so much in giving me the skills and confidence to apply for a graduate role once I completed my degrees.
I’m now an Associate HCM Systems Consultant for a company called Collaborative Solutions, and am completing training and certification in the Workday HCM ecosystem.”
