Werribee Rotary tee off for cancer research

On Friday, 10 March 2023 a full course of players hit the greens at Werribee Golf Club to play a round of golf and raise money for a good cause.

Each year, the Rotary Club of Werribee hold their annual charity golf day. Supported by members of the community, local businesses and members of the club, they donate the proceeds to local charities.

This year, the club donated the proceeds from the day to cancer research undertaken by Professor Vasso Apostolopoulos and her team at VU’s Werribee campus. More than 125 players took to the course and 140 attended lunch to hear about Professor Apostolopoulos’ work and its impact.

Supporting crucial research

Professor Apostolopoulos’ team has already identified several new biomarkers for cancer, even before the disease has developed. The generosity and vision of the Rotary Club in supporting this research will lead to better ways to diagnose, treat and care for people with cancer.

Thanks to the support of the Club, Professor Apostolopoulos and hear team will be able to build on their work to help identify cancer earlier, increasing the chances of successfully treating the disease and potentially saving thousands of lives.
