Overview

Health Promotion is a vital role in public health as the “coal face” of the field. Health promoters develop and deploy the communications to encourage the uptake of healthy behaviours like wearing sunscreen, wearing masks, eating healthy, exercising, using a condom and many other risk reduction behaviours. The health promotion specialisation explores how effective health promotion works to understand and act on factors that cause poor health, and those that create and sustain good health. Within this specialisation, students will build an in-depth understanding of health policies, sociological implications, and global health concerns, and gain the skills required to address contemporary health issues affecting both individual and community-based approaches. Students will acquire the skills to inspire people and communities to act in regards to their own health and create physical, social economic environments that are supportive and encourage good health.
