Diversity and Innovation in Early Childhood Education (DICE) program
Victoria University is helping to increase the number of Early Childhood Education facilitators in Victoria by providing support and assistance to people in the west of Melbourne. This program is known as Diversity and Innovation in Early Childhood Education (DICE). As part of the program, students will receive extra support and opportunities to kick start their careers in Early Childhood Education.
The VU DICE Program is dedicated to empowering you to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education. We provide comprehensive support services throughout your course to ensure you are fully prepared for the job market upon graduation.
Experience practical learning through classes and work placements offered within the western Melbourne community.
Benefits of the VU DICE program
The first term of the course consists of three days in the classroom (9.30am to 2.30pm). Subsequent terms include two days in the classroom (9.30am to 2.30pm) and two days of practical placement to apply your knowledge as you progress through the course.
As a VU DICE student, you’ll receive:
- support when applying for an eligible TAFE course
- English as an Additional Language (EAL) support, as well as literacy and numeracy support throughout your studies
- classes and placements delivered in Local Government Areas across western Melbourne
- support to transition into employment
- individual mentoring
- access to community and industry ambassadors via professional learning sessions.

Costs
TAFE fees vary, depending on how much the government contributes towards course costs (if anything).
The courses are part of the Victorian Government Free TAFE initiative. This means, if eligible, the tuition fee is free with a nominal fee required for materials and Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). Eligibility criteria applies.
This program is funded as part of the Victorian Government’s Early Childhood Tertiary Partnerships program (ECTP), which supports the growth of the early childhood education workforce.

Classes are currently being taught in Melton Library and Wyndham.
Classes will be commencing soon at:
- Djerring Flemington Hub (Flemington Community Centre)
- Brimbank City Council
- Hume City Council
- Melton City Council.

Partnering for Workforce Retention program
Our Early Childhood Tertiary Partnerships program – Partnering for Workforce Retention offers two options for those seeking rewarding and in-demand careers as early childhood teachers. Our program is for students across Victoria, and in particular the western suburbs of Melbourne.
Both courses are offered in a variety of modes – in person, online self-paced, and online real time.
With the VU Block Model®, you study one subject at a time, in four-week blocks. That means you can focus your efforts, master your skills, and receive real-time feedback before moving on to the next subject.
