Overview

Learn how to provide first aid responses to infants, children and adults.

Course delivery

This course will be delivered in a combination of self-paced online activities and assessments and a face-to-face session. The delivery model consists of:

  • online self-paced e-learning activities and assessments
  • practical face-to-face workshop delivery.

The e-learning activities and assessments will be sent via email a week prior to the face-to-face delivery. These are compulsory and will need to be successfully completed prior to attending the face-to-face practical workshop.

Participants will need to have successfully completed all activities, assessments and the face-to-face workshop to receive a certificate.

Designed for educators and support staff working in the education and care industry, this short course will provide you with skills in effective first aid response, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

You will gain knowledge of:

  • responding to an emergency situation
  • application of appropriate emergency first aid procedures
  • communicating details of the incident
  • evaluating an incident and your own performance.

Upon completion of this course you will receive a statement of attainment for the nationally accredited unit HLTAID004 provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting. This unit of competency included in the short course may contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011).

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency, within the VET Non-Award Course TNABD Emergency First Aid in Childcare and Education, a student must successfully undertake the following unit(s):

CORE UNIT

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers

Previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course.

Designed for educators and support staff working in the education and care industry, this short course will provide you with skills in effective first aid response, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

This course consists of seven (7) hours elearning and seven (7) hours (full day) face to face delivery.

You will gain knowledge of:

- responding to an emergency situation;
- application of appropriate emergency first aid procedures;
- communicating details of the incident, and;
- evaluating an incident and your own performance.

Upon completion of this course you will receive a statement of attainment for the nationally accredited unit HLTAID004 provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting.
