VU Polytechnic feature at this year’s School to Work Summit

On 31 March 2022, VU Polytechnic’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dianne Semmens, joined this year’s School to Work Summit in an industry panel to discuss necessary changes and innovation required in schools.

Over 500 delegates attend in person and virtually, with Gabriella Zibell, Manager of Community Learning, and Jo Cave, Manager of Digital Transformation, representing VU Polytechnic in person. Dianne Semmens gave her insights on requirements for schools and necessary future developments as she joined the panel: Leading change - how do we lead change in schools and beyond? Other members of the panel included David Caughey - Cranbourne Secondary College, Fiona Nash - Regional Education Commissioner, Jen Buchanan - Future Schools Alliance and Dr Yasmin Chalmers.

The 2022 Victorian School to Work Summit brought together experts, innovators and leaders from education, industry, government and community to step up to the challenge facing Victoria over the next decade and explore the following theme:

How do we connect our education system with future workforce opportunities so that every student has a great pathway from school to work?

The summit tackled challenges such as economic disruption, equity and inclusion, in-demand skills and the role of technology.
