    Develop proficiency in assessing information systems for business organizations through the Information Systems Management.



    You will study the essential elements of IS management, including:

    • IT and business planning
    • business processes
    • information technology structure
    • information systems
    • using information for competitive advantage and decision making

    With a clear understanding of the ubiquity of information systems in modern organisations, you will evaluate the role of responsible digital practices.
    You will explore the use of data in organisations and come to understand the influence of the technology in accounting, such as:
    • Blockchain
    • ERP systems
    • artificial intelligence (AI)
    • business intelligence (BI).

    By the end of this unit, you will understand how to analyse data, assess business processes and evaluate systems. In particular, you be able to assess the impact of technology on business organisations.

    Learning Outcomes

    On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

    1. Analyse concepts, issues and benefits of information systems;
    2. Evaluate the nature of data, the characteristics of quality information and the importance of knowledge in decision making;
    3. Compare and contrast the potential contribution of information systems to the competitive advantage of different organisations;
    4. Apply skills in the management of data and information using personal productivity applications; and
    5. Investigate, formulate and communicate the understanding of information systems.
