Overview

This final unit in the sequence on Speech Pathology Assessment Practices focuses on the integration, transfer and adaptation of this knowledge and skills to the speech pathology communication areas. This unit will involve completion of four days of simulated professional practicum under the supervision of speech pathology practice educators. Students will gain the requisite skills that will equip them to accurately record their annual professional development activities for maintenance of Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist status once they enter the profession.

Records of practice/management for Simulation Placement (hurdle)

Practical Demonstration - OSCE: This assessment must be completed on-site, in-person, in the same room as the examiner and cannot be completed online or via telepractice.

Hurdle: Students are required to attend and pass 4 days (28 hours) of supervised simulation placement (Completion of Competency Rubric for Simulation Placement). This requirement is in accord with the Speech Pathology Australia Accreditation Standards and the Victoria University Assessment for Learning - Standards for Assessment Procedure. In the event of absence from placement, students may be required to make up missed placement hours, as per the Speech Pathology Practice Education Guidelines.
