Overview

EAP 4A is a 5-week unit for students who wish to study academic English to prepare them to study a university or VU Polytechnic course in the future. Students will be able to develop academic English skills to allow them to progress to EAP 4B. Students need to complete EAP 4B to gain direct entry into foundation studies, TAFE certificates/diplomas or higher education diplomas (Diploma of Business, Engineering or Information Technology) at VU.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Comprehend and respond to key information in a range of academic listening such as Ted Talks, Pod casts, lectures;
  2. Develop reading skills to identify main ideas and specific information in a range of short academic readings;
  3. Write a well structured academic essay and a short summary; and
  4. Deliver a short academic presentation and participate in group discussions.
