Gain insight into business trends impacting tourism and events right now, with Contemporary Issues in Tourism and Events.

This unit aims to develop your abilities to critically evaluate data and information from a wide range of secondary sources, and to interpret the implications that trends and issues have for the tourism, hospitality and events industries.

Topics will change over time as issues emerge and change, reflecting their relative importance to the industry.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Critically evaluate trends and issues affecting international tourism/hospitality/events;
  2. Critically review a wide range of secondary data and information sources relating to international tourism/hospitality industry trends;
  3. Analyse important, complex and often unpredictable problems in different business settings in tourism, hospitality and events; and,
  4. Conceptualise strategies, as part of a team, designed to address a specific issues in international tourism, hospitality and events.
