Overview

Students undertake this unit in order to develop applied skills in natural environments and outdoor leadership. Throughout the internship students maintain a professional reflective journal in which they document facets of their learning as it unfolds through observation, participation, trial and error and the requirements to work under pressure as part of a team. Students will consider their place in diverse teams, organisations and consider how broader stakeholder groups are impacted or assisted by natural environments and outdoor leadership practices.

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Manage genuine workplace activities with autonomy and reflect on the experience;
  2. Exhibit the skills and knowledge acquired in their natural environments and outdoor leadership studies to a professional setting;
  3. Reflect on the role and value of natural environment and outdoor leadership expertise for participants and society;
  4. Critique natural environment and outdoor leadership practices in relation to genuine workplace activities; and,
  5. Devise a professional learning plan within an organisational environment.
