Overview

Advanced Business Analytics provides techniques and tools to explore information hidden in large datasets. You will gain advanced knowledge in business analytics and visualisation to analyse business data and convert unstructured data into business information that can be used for decision making. Using industry-based software tools such as Power BI you are exposed to a range of business analytics approaches using software tools to process real-world data sets. You will also learn how to work with different datatypes, build and evaluate models, develop data visualisation and communicate insights to business data users.



You will learn to:

  • Leverage advanced Power BI development methodologies to expertly manipulate data, perform in-depth analytics, and create compelling visualizations
  • Acquire proficiency in employing cutting-edge techniques for manipulating, transforming, and distilling large-scale, complex data sets into structured formats
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of data quality, integrating industry-best practices for data management
  • Conceptualize, construct, and optimize analytical models using advanced methodologies
  • Discern various data typologies and employ sophisticated techniques for the optimal utilization and analysis of data
As part of the unit, you will interact with industry professionals to gain insights into industry practices.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Identify and critically evaluate the tools for data analysis for a problem and apply the right technique for the problem;
  2. Interpret and summarise the data using the data analytics software;
  3. Analyse and communicate the results of data analyses verbally and/or in written form; and,
  4. Investigate and recommend solutions to develop effective visualisations.
