Overview

Become adept at managing and organising information systems (IS) for contemporary organisations and e-commerce, with the Information Systems Management and Security unit.

You will study the essential elements of IS management, including:

  • IT and business continuity planning
  • information technology architectures
  • change management
  • cloud computing
  • sustainability.

With a clear understanding of the ubiquity of information systems in modern organisations, you will examine the role of responsible digital practices in environmental, social and cultural contexts.

  • You will also explore the use of big data in organisations and auditing, and come to understand the influence in accounting of digital advances such as:
  • cryptography
  • Blockchain
  • robotics
  • artificial intelligence (AI)
  • business intelligence (BI).

By the end of this unit, you will understand how to evaluate system engineering privacy mechanisms. In particular, you be able to assess the threat of interference associated with emerging artificial intelligence.

You will learn how to assess, monitor, and mitigate cybersecurity risk by studying frameworks such as:

  • NIST Cybersecurity Framework
  • ISO 27001 and ISO 27002
  • SOC2
  • NERC-CIP
  • HIPAA
  • GDPR
  • FISMA
