During her honours year, Nicola Andreacchio's supervisor encouraged her to follow her dreams of studying physiotherapy. She applied for the University of Melbourne-based course and has completed her second year.
“Growing up, I always had an interest in health and science. My dream was to do physiotherapy once I finished school, however, I gave up on that idea during VCE because I thought it was out of my reach. Not knowing what I really wanted to do, I applied for Biomedical Science at VU in the hope that it would lead to a job in an area I was remotely interested in.
During my honours year I had a conversation with my supervisor and he suggested I reconsider physiotherapy. I applied and to my surprise I was accepted. I’ve just finished my second year and have one more year to go before I finish. Completing my honours year and being accepted into physiotherapy are my greatest achievements so far.
I loved my time at VU and was lucky enough to have met some great people along the way – some I am still very close with today. VU has a great atmosphere and I would recommend it to anyone who asked. If it wasn’t for VU I probably wouldn’t be where I am now: working my way towards the career I’ve always dreamed of.”
