Seun Omolewa (Nigeria)
Master of Digital Media
Hailing from central Nigeria and with a broad background in media, international student Seun Omolewa is determined to bring his passion for filmmaking to life.
“I’ve done a bit of design and photography and I also shoot weddings and company videos, Seun, 25, says. "I felt that the Master of Digital Media was a good opportunity to merge everything together."
Since beginning the Master of Digital Media at VU, Seun has gained a diverse range of experience and exposure.
Among his projects, he has been a designer and photographer for Hyde magazine and volunteered in VU’s Digital Media Club. Seun coordinated events at the Digital Media Club to help people learn about digital media, search engine optimisation (SEO) and digital marketing.
“The magazine was a highlight for me – it taught me how to work with people from all walks of life because the team was so multicultural.
I know that I have a good network of people around me who I can work with in the future. I made friendships that will last a lifetime.”
If you really want to challenge yourself and take the next step in your career, there’s so much you can learn from VU. The lecturers here are always willing to help and the environment supports growth – Melbourne is amazing.
Leveraging VU’s industry connections, Seun has also worked on social media enhancements and website upgrades for the Melbourne Rebels rugby team.
“This was really amazing because it gave me an opportunity to work on real life projects, it’s not like you just sit in a class and listen.
In the course you get to work with industry mentors and share your ideas with them and they tell you what’s happening out there.”
After graduation, Seun aims to be a filmmaker and use his talents to evoke social change.
