São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and Victoria University (VU), Australia, signed a Cooperation Agreement for Research on 23 December 2014, with the aim to implement scientific and technological cooperation between researchers from Victoria University, Australia, and from the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil, through the funding of joint research projects.
Under this Agreement, as the first action to promote this collaboration, FAPESP and VU are now making public a Call for Proposals for the exchange of researchers under the terms and conditions of the SPRINT 1st Edition 2015.
Applications to this scheme require a joint submission by the Victoria University researcher(s) and their collaborators based in the State of São Paulo.
Joint collaborative Research proposals will be considered from all disciplines.

FAPESP is a public foundation, funded by the taxpayers of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. Its mission is to support research projects in higher education and research institutions, in all fields of knowledge.
The Foundation works closely with the scientific community: all proposals are peer reviewed with the help of area panels composed of active researchers. Research funding is distributed across all fields, and the Foundation also specifically supports large research programs in Biodiversity, Bioenergy, Global Climate Change, and Neurosciences.
FAPESP maintains cooperation agreements with national and international research funding agencies, higher educational and research institutions and business enterprises.
Victoria University and FAPESP will each contribute up to AUD $160,000 over the life of the first Cooperation Agreement, which is 5 years.
A minimum of two proposals will be funded this year. Each proposal can be up-to 24 months in duration.
Proposals under 12 months in length will not be considered.
Applicants from Victoria University and an eligible organisation in the State of São Paulo, can each request (AUD $10,000.00) per joint proposal per year so that the total is $20,000 per year
Budget items that can be requested by VU researchers:
- funds for travel (air tickets), accommodation and living allowances from Australia to visit the State of São Paulo.
- consumables, equipment hire and services relating to the joint collaborative project with the organisation in San Paolo.
