About Qing Quan Liang

Dr Qing Quan (Stephen) Liang is the Founder and President of Australian Association for Steel-Concrete Composite Structures (AASCCS) and a member of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society (USA). He is currently an Associate Professor of Structural Engineering at Victoria University, Australia. He obtained his ME (Hons) in Civil (Structural) Engineering from the University of Wollongong in 1998 and PhD in Structural Engineering from Victoria University of Technology in 2002.

Dr Liang was awarded the 2004 State-of-the-Art of Civil Engineering Award by American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He is a member of the Editorial Board of Engineering Structures (Elsevier), Scientific Reports (Springer Nature), and Steel and Composite Structures (Techno-Press); in addition, he is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Structural Concrete, Journal of the fib (John Wiley & Sons).

Dr Liang’s research interests focus on steel-concrete composite structures, steel structures, structural concrete, structural fire engineering, structural optimization, and AI in structural engineering. He has published over 140 technical books, journal articles, and conference papers. He is the sole author of the research book entitled "Performance-Based Optimization of Structures: Theory and Applications" (2004, Spon Press; 2019, CRC Press) and the textbook entitled "Analysis and Design of Steel and Composite Structures" (2014, CRC Press); in addition, he is the co-author of the research books entitled "Nonlinear Analysis of Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular Columns" (2015, Scholar’s Press) and "Concrete-Filled Stainless Steel Tubular Columns" (2018, CRC Press). His books have been well received worldwide.

Dr Liang has been recognised as one of the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University since 2020 and one of the Best Scientists in Engineering and Technology (Research.com).
