Hounds help stressed students at Victoria University

As Victoria University students prepare for exams, George, Hugo and Elmo want to remind everyone on campus that sometimes it’s important to enjoy some down time.

This week, the Paws the Pressure team will arrive with specially trained volunteers, and a pack of therapy dogs to help encourage stressed students to take a break from the books and pat a Border Collie, a Hungarian Vizsla, or even a Miniature Poodle.

The therapy dogs will be on leads and the volunteers will direct students on how to safely pat the dogs.

Garry Potter and the VU Library team have organised ‘therapy dog team’ visits to three campus libraries:

City Flinders campus library, Monday 17 October, 11.30am – 1pm

Meet: Juno (Hungarian Vizsla), Chev (Border Collie), and Elmo (Bichon Frise Cross)

St Albans campus library, Tuesday 18 October, 11.30am – 1pm

Meet: Ace (Border Collie) and Hugo (Miniature Poodle)

Footscray Park campus library, Wednesday 19 October, 11.30am – 1pm

Meet: George (Border Collie) and Murphy (Golden Retriever)

Photo/interview opportunities are available, so if Media would like to attend any of the sessions, please contact Frances Atkinson, frances.atkinson@vu.edu.au or 0435960793.
