VU is upgrading and improving our student management system – the digital platform that contains our student and course records.

We will be implementing the Student One system for all Higher Education students on August 16 2022. This will consolidate our existing VU Polytechnic system and our university system – resulting in a smoother experience for all.

For you, this means some system downtime from 5 to 16 August while we complete the integration.

Systems affected by the change

As we begin the move to Student One, some systems will be unavailable.

From 5pm Friday 5 August until 9am Tuesday 16 August 2022:

  • students will not be able to access MyVU
  • students will not be able to make payments via our usual online payment gateway, OneStop (note, you will still be able to make payments via BPAY or AusPost).

Changes to our online systems from 16 August

When MyVU comes back online from 16 August, you will start to see some differences in our online systems.

Most higher education students will not be able to make changes to enrolment via MyVU at first. You will likely see a message about this when you login to MyVU after 16 August. This is because we need to do some work in the background to get you set up and ensure you have the right study plan, which is the ‘map’ that guides you through the requirements of your course. We will let you know as soon as your study plan is ready, and in the meantime you will be able to request enrolment changes from our Course & Unit Advisors through ASK CUA.

If you are a research student, please refer to your student email account as you have been sent further details on the impacts of the upgrade.

TAFE students will also not be able to access MyVU while it is offline, however you should otherwise not be impacted by this change.

As with any system change, it will take some time for all of us to get used to the new functions. We would be grateful for your patience and support as our staff adjust to new ways of working.

Improvements

Other improvements the new system will enable include:

  • new functionality to improve your online experience
  • new functionality to manage scholarship applications and payments
  • improved automation with various enrolment-related processes, including Leave of Absence
  • improved timeframes for managing course completion and graduation.
