Overview

Gain expertise needed to manage the building approval application process, with the Domestic Builders Limited TNABY course at Victoria University Polytechnic.

Over 10 weeks, this online course for tradespeople will teach you about applying for building approvals, including:

  • required documentation
  • current regulatory and planning processes.

It also prepares you for:

  • selecting and preparing construction contracts
  • producing schedules of resource requirements for materials and labour
  • recording and tracking costs.

This course covers the prescribed units of competency required when applying for your Domestic Builders Limited registration. 

A person registered in a Domestic Builder Limited class may be limited to carrying out, managing or arranging certain types of domestic building work, such as carpentry, glazing work, bricklaying or other domestic building categories.

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency(s) within TNABY Domestic Builders Limited, a student must successfully undertake the following unit(s):

Recognition of Prior Learning and/or Credit Transfers:

Previous completion of units at the Polytechnic or any other Registered Training Organisation and/or previous attainment of skills and knowledge may be credited towards this course.

A person registered in a Domestic Builder Limited class may be limited to carrying out, managing or arranging the carrying out of certain types of domestic building work, such as being limited to carpentry work or glazing work or bricklaying and blocklaying work or other domestic building categories.
The Domestic Builders Limited short course covers the skills and knowledge to manage the building approval application process, including the required documentation and current regulatory and planning processes. It also prepares graduates for selecting and preparing construction contracts, producing schedules of resource requirements for materials and labour and how to record and track costs. This course covers the prescribed units of competency required when applying for your Domestic Builders Limited registration.

Admission & pathways
