Writers Festival showcases VU talent
Victoria University is proud to support the 2017 Emerging Writers Festival, launched on 14 June and running to 23 June at various locations across Melbourne.
The festival showcases the work of new writers through dozens of exciting performances and presentations, many of which are free to attend.
Emerging authors have the opportunity to learn from experienced writers in a series of masterclasses on writing, publishing and promotion. And anyone can book a ticket to watch Australia's Next Great Writers performing their own work.
VU-sponsored events
VU is presenting three events that demonstrate our diverse and creative University talent.
The Pitching in Publishing masterclass, held at the Wheeler Centre on Monday 19 June, examines the best way to sell a novel to an editor, and offers participants the chance to refine and present their own pitch. Victoria University's creative-writing lecturers Natalie Kon-Yu and Enza Gandolfo are presenting as part of the masterclass.
Late Night Lit: GUTS, on Tuesday 20 June at 1000 £ Bend (Gallery), is a performance of powerful writing starring VU’s own Lina Bujupi. Lina is a creative writing student and the managing editor of VU’s literary arts journal, Offset.
The final VU-sponsored event will be held on Thursday 22 June at VU at MetroWest, a Victoria University space in the heart of Footscray. Literary Live Art: Performing Place will feature readings by Magan Magan, a Melbourne-based poet currently studying creative writing at VU.
