Victoria University wins Commonwealth grant

Victoria University was awarded $9995 as part of Community and Philanthropy Partnerships Week to develop a media strategy and short promotional film.

Community and Philanthropy Partnerships Week (5-11 December) is a chance for community groups and their philanthropic partners to showcase and promote the great things they have achieved together.

Victoria University will develop a media strategy and short promotional film to celebrate and share the achievements of the Australian Law for Islamic Community Leaders – A Dialogue. The grant reinforces the successful partnership between The Sir Zelman Cowen Centre, the Islamic Council of Victoria and the Scanlon Foundation to provide tailored training for Muslim community leaders.

Senator the Hon. Scott Ryan, Special Minister of State and Senator for Victoria, congratulated Kidsafe Victoria, which also received a Commonwealth grant.

"Victoria University is among 19 Australians organisations receiving a share of $152,800 to help showcase community-business partnerships," Senator Ryan said. "It is great that these two great community initiatives – to help keep children safe and to promote tailored training for Muslim community leaders – will be celebrated as part of Community and Philanthropy Partnerships Week."

Minister for Social Services Christian Porter applauded the importance of what is being achieved at a grassroots level across Australia. "I congratulate these organisations and commend the businesses or philanthropic organisation they work with in communities across Australia," Mr Porter said.
