Foundations are being laid on the state-of-art Brimbank Tech School at Victoria University’s (VU) Sunshine Campus – anticipated to open for Term 3 2026, this technology, community and industry hub will connect local secondary students to future careers.

Funded by the Victorian Government this $13.26 million hub will connect high school students to the future of work with hands-on experiences solving industry problems.

Member for St Albans, the Hon Natalie Suleyman MP, Member for Laverton, Sarah Connolly MP joined VU Vice-Chancellor Professor Adam Shoemaker and Brimbank Tech School Director Stephen Manitta to celebrate the exciting milestone.

“We’re thrilled to work with Brimbank Tech School at our VU Sunshine Campus to usher in an exciting new chapter in STEM education for the western suburbs. This is the future of education – where schools, universities and industry partners all coexist, working together to support innovative learning, community connections and career pathways,” Professor Shoemaker said.

The Tech School will prepare and inspire students for future careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) – with free programs for students at local secondary schools, aligned with the Victorian Curriculum and industry needs.

“Students in Brimbank will have the chance to explore future career pathways like never before, in industries that have never been more important,” Ms Suleyman said.

By embracing community, industry and partner schools in Melbourne’s west and with a deep connection to Country, our creative programs will shape future careers and inspire changemakers.

At the heart of Brimbank Tech School will be an open-air central courtyard serving as a tech-free zone where students reconnect with each other and the natural world.

Students will receive free transportation to and from the Tech School to experience learning spaces and programs that will blend robotics, AI, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, creative media and health technology with teamwork, agency and wellbeing, so young people move from curiosity to capability.

The program mix and planning are co-designed around real pathways in health, cyber, clean energy, advanced manufacturing and creative tech, with capacity for 120 students a day and reach across 14 partner schools.
