Footscray Community Arts recognised with Victoria Day Award for the Arts

Footscray Community Arts received the Victoria Day for the Arts Award for supporting and presenting contemporary art created by a diverse range of artists.

Footscray Community Arts has been honoured by the Victoria Day Council, receiving the Victoria Day Award for the Arts on Friday, July 1, 2022.

Footscray Community Arts have been recognised for their contribution and commitment to supporting and presenting contemporary art created by artists with disabilities and First Nations, culturally and linguistically diverse, and LGBTQIA+ arts communities.

As one of the most significant cultural precincts in Melbourne’s west, Footscray Community Arts have made a profound contribution to the arts community and local community.

Victoria University (VU) and Footscray Community Arts have had a long partnership, which traces back to their inception in 1974.

As part of this partnership, Footscray Community Arts provides VU students with placements and Work Integrated Learning experiences across business, the creative industries and community development disciplines.

The Victorian Government recently committed $8.7 million to an infrastructure upgrade at Footscray Community Arts, as part of the 2022–2023 Victorian State Budget.
