Confucius Institute receives excellence award
Professor Colin Clark, Dean of the College of Business, and Local Director of the Victoria Business Confucius Institute, recently received the 2017 Confucius Institute Individual Performance Excellence Award.
The award was presented by the Vice Premier of China, Madam Liu Yandong, at the opening ceremony of the Global Confucius Institutes Conference held in Xian, China.
Following the ceremony, Professor Clark said that the award was a tribute to the achievements of the Victoria Business Confucius Institute (VBCI) in its short two-year history at VU.
In addition to introducing the popular Chinese language and culture classes for students and staff of VU, the VBCI has rolled out training to the business community and government agencies, and supported the introduction of award course units addressing doing business in China and China’s role in the global economy.
The VBCI has also established training programs for visiting Chinese academics, conducted cultural activities on campus, engaged with local Schools in delivering Chinese language and culture, and conducted successful study tours taking VU students and others to China.
Professor Clark paid tribute to the work of the Chinese Director of the VBCI, Associate Professor Claire Wang, Dr Catherine Lou as project officer, and the Chinese staff of the VBCI.
