Claire Brown responds to article on low ATARs

Claire Brown, Associate Director, The Victoria Institute at Victoria University, has responded recent comments made by Group of Eight universities, in regard to potential consequence of lifting the cap on places at university.

Claire Brown's response 'University standards at risk from Group of Eight elitism, not students with low ATARs' was published recently in 'The Conversation'.

In her article, Claire rejects the assumption that only students with an ATAR of 70 and above can participate in fostering an economy based on knowledge and innovation. Claire warns that making these assertions fails to capitalise on the full pool of talent that Australia holds.
