Child Safe Standards
At Victoria University, the wellbeing of our students, staff and visitors remains our highest priority.
We are a diverse, inclusive and safe community and children and young people under the age of 18 form a large part of it.
With the implementation of the new Child Safe Standards initiative introduced by the Victorian Government, Victoria University is making a commitment to create a culture and environment that is supportive and protective of children and young people under the age of 18.
Minister for Families and Children Jenny Mikakos said the new standards will “drive cultural change in organisations so that protecting children from abuse is embedded in everyday thinking and practice.”
At Victoria University Susan Young, Dean of Students, will oversee the safety and welfare of children and young people. New Safety and Welfare of Children and Young People policies, procedures and standards of conduct have been developed. All staff will also be required to complete a training module, accessed via VU Develop.
