Special Collections Exhibition: People, Place & Culture Archive
Explore how activists, editors and a cycling advocate worked towards positive change related to the environment, interpretation of the past, and urban living.
The Special Collections Exhibition: People, Place & Culture Archive at Footscray Park Library highlights the stories of protest, activism and investigation by:
- Friends of the Earth – activists working for environmental and social justice
- editors Stephen Muecke and Adam Shoemaker of Legendary Tales of the Australian Aborigines, published in 2001
- cycling advocate Alan Parker who founded the Bicycle Institute of Victoria (Bicycle Victoria – now known as Bicycle Network) with other cyclists in the mid-1970s.
The stories are reflected in a wide range of Australian materials – submissions, photographs, graphics, correspondence, letters and minutes, research and manuscript versions, working papers and local planning documents – found in the People, Place & Culture Archive of the Special Collections.
