Planning your academic writing

A Learning Advisor from the Learning Hub will help you plan your writing so that it flows, answers the question you’ve been asked, and meets the criteria set out in the rubric.

Join this academic skills workshop online to learn how to: 

• unpack your assignment question into three components, which will give you scope and direction
• define task words and look for information that will help you tailor your response to requirements
• draw up a checklist from your rubric which provides instruction on what to include and how to achieve excellent marks
• do your research and use the Library services for training and additional resources
• plan from big picture ideation to detailed planning of the paragraphs 
• create a framework to craft an excellent written response that flows, is coherent, and meets the criteria of the rubric and assignment instructions.
