Join us as we celebrate International Women’s Day and champion intersectional gender equality with a range of activities across the first two weeks of March.

At VU we celebrate all women, in all their diversities. We embrace their facets and intersections of faith, race, ethnicity, gender or sexual identity, and/or disability.

This year we'll be celebrating International Women’s Day and championing intersectional gender equality with a range of activities across the first two weeks of March:

What is International Women's Day & why does it matter?

International Women’s Day (8 March) is a day to celebrate the achievements of women across social, political, economic and cultural spheres.

It is also a day to recognise how far we have come towards gender equity, and how far we still have to go.

Many women continue to face compounded and overlapping barriers to equality. International Women’s Day is an opportunity to acknowledge the specific challenges experienced by women of colour, women with disabilities, sapphic women, women with a trans experience, and women of all ages. It also gives us an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to advancing intersectional gender equity.
