2023 National Sport Integrity Forum
Betting Your Bottom Dollar… Against The Odds?
The context for the 2023 NSIF is the digital transformation of (all) business, and how digital technology has unleashed a betting industry revolution.
With this value explosion in the online and mobile betting industry, sport has become a platform that presents almost unlimited scope for exploitation – legal and illegal. Among the many issues that sport governing bodies have to deal with in regard to providing safe and inclusive sporting environments, exposure to and the influence of sports betting is one of the greatest challenges.
Beyond the legalities of the governance frameworks in relation to betting on sport, lies the fact that for all the content that sport organisations provide for betting to take place, little of the betting revenues generated through sport flows back to the sport organisation.
