    Overview

    This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to effectively measure current resource use and carry out improvements, including reducing the negative environmental impact of work practices.  It applies to individuals, working under supervision or guidance, who are required to follow workplace procedures and instructions, and work in an environmentally sustainable manner within scope of competency, authority and own level of responsibility.

    Assessment

    For Melbourne campuses

    Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit’s learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.

    Students will be expected to demonstrate the following performance criteria:

    • locate and interpret a range of environment/sustainability legislation and procedural requirements;
    • participate in and support discussions for an improved resource efficiency process;
    • identify, document and measure usage of resources, and;
    • collaborate with team members on suggestions for improving workplace practices.

    Required reading

    The qualified trainer and assessor will provide teaching and learning materials as required in the form of workbooks produced by the Polytechnic and/or via the Polytechnic e-learning system.
