Assessment

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills: - communication skills to use a wide range of oral and written informal and formal language and representation including symbols, diagrams and charts to communicate mathematically; - interpret, select and investigate appropriate mathematical information and relationships highly embedded in an activity, item or text; - analyse and evaluate the appropriateness, interpretations and wider implications of all aspects of a mathematical activity, and; - select and apply a wide range of mathematical strategies flexibly to generate solutions to problems across a broad range of contexts. Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge: - algebraic techniques such as same operation on both sides, backtracking and factorising.
