Overview

In this unit, you’ll learn the essential tools and strategies used to defend digital systems against modern cyber threats. Learn how to detect vulnerabilities, configure secure environments, and evaluate real-world risks using ethical hacking practices. With a strong focus on hands-on skills, you'll gain confidence using industry tools and protocols in simulated security scenarios. By the end of the unit, you’ll be equipped to assess and secure networked systems: preparing you for future roles in cyber security and related fields.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Investigate system vulnerabilities and assess the effectiveness of security tools to strengthen networked systems;
  2. Analyse a system for deploying appropriate security solutions including security policies and practices;
  3. Design and implement a security solution given a set of constraints individually and as part of a team; and
  4. Exhibit hacking methodologies in consideration of ethical and professional standards.
